NLC Berates State Govs over Assertion they can’t Pay N60,000 Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has come hard on state governors over the assertion that they cannot afford to pay a minimum wage of N60,000, stressing that it is much the same as condemning the country to economic ruin.

Newsbuka.com.ng, reported that the 36 state governors had stated their concerns, insisting that the proposed N60,000 minimum wage by the Federal Government is unrealistic and cannot be implemented by them.

Speaking about the development, the NLC in a statement by its Spokesperson, Mr Benson Upah, at the weekend, branded the governorsā€™ remarks as an act of bad faith, especially as they were made during ongoing negotiations.

NLC added that the remark, was not only tasteless but also unfounded, given the significant increase in allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), which has surged from N700 billion to N1.2 trillion.
