Insecurity: Varsity Don Urges Govt at all Levels to Redouble Efforts

A University Don and Deputy Vice Chancellor Admin, Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, Prof Evaristus Anyaehie, has charged Government at all levels to redouble efforts at checking the rate of insecurity in the country.

The Professor, who made the call on Wednesday while interacting with Skills 87.7 FM reporter, Samuel Ibezim on the backdrop of security challenges in the country, decried the high wave of kidnapping in the country, adding that it has led to economic hardship.

Prof. Anyaehie said the high wave of kidnapping has constantly dissuaded people from going to their farmlands for fear of being kidnapped, calling on government at all levels to address the issue before it gets out of hand.

He said businesses are suffering, hunger is biting harder on the masses, stressing that if farmers are allowed to go to their farms and with good economic policies from the federal government, the level of hardship in the country currently would have been reduced to the barest minimum.

The DVC Admin, however, advised The Federal Government to deploy more efforts towards checking insecurity including kidnapping of persons and farmers in the country.

Prof. Anyaehie called on Security Agencies to be proactive and apply intelligence gathering in stemming the tide of insecurity and other crimes which are militating against the progress of Nigeria.
